Para kay Senador Richard “Dick” Gordon, tila wala daw kakayahan ang kasalukuyang gobyerno na sawatahin ang mga problema na may kaugnayan sa korapsyon, kapayapaan at seguridad.
“This government really, really appears to be not capable of fixing problems involving corruption, involving peace and order. I know that’s a hard thing to say but I am saying it because walang naso-solve na crime halos. Kakaunti lang naso-solve na crime,” sabi ni Senador Gordon.
“I want to hear what the President would say. He should chastise them right away. He should no longer say he is backing them up. It would really anger the people,” dagdag pa ng senador.
Ito ang naging tugon ni Sen. Gordon sa napabalitang pagkamatay ni Bilibid Prison druglord Jaybee Sebastian. Magugunita na napaulat na nasawi si Sebastian sa sakit na covid-19 at sinunog agad ang labi nito.
Banat pa ni Gordon, dapat daw ay patunayan ng Bureau of Corrections na totoo ngang pumanaw na si Sebastian.
Humihiling si Senador Gordon at Franklin Drilon ng imbestigasyon patungkol sa pagkasawi ni Sebastian at iba pang persons deprived of liberty (PDL).
Nagpasaring naman si Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) chief Gerald Bantag sa mga senador.
“Why are you so interested in their deaths? Are your protectors of the drug lords… Twenty-one PDL died because of COVID. Now, why are they questioning only the deaths of nine inmates who were high-profile? Why don’t they investigate the other 12?” banat ni BuCor Chief Bantag.
