“I filed with the Department of Justice (DOJ) through electronic mail, a Letter-Complaint against Senator Koko Pimentel detailing the clear facts and circumstances that establish his direct violation of RA No. 11332 (the Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act) and its implementing rules and other DOH (Department of Health) regulations… With this, I hope the DOJ will swiftly act and pursue legal actions against Senator Koko Pimentel. We trust that DOJ will be true to its commitment to the Filipino people to uphold the rule of law without fear or favor… We are one with the Filipino people in condemning negligent and reckless acts which expose the public, especially our health workers to unnecessary risks… As a lawyer and advocate of the rule of law, I cannot in good conscience allow the reckless actions of Senator Koko Pimentel to be brushed aside so easily. He blatantly violated laws, which put the lives and health of frontliners and even ordinary citizens at grave risk,” sabi ni Atty. Quicho.
Nitong huling bahagi ng Marso ay naging laman ng balita si Senador Pimentel nang samahan nito ang kanyang asawang manganganak sa ospital kahit na nakakaranas na siya ng sintomas ng coronavirus disease 2019 (covid-19). Kalaunan ay lumabas ang resulta na positibo pala siya sa nasabing sakit.
Tinawag ng Makati Medical Center (MMC) si Sen. Pimentel na “reckless and irresponsible” dahil sa inilagay daw sa alanganin ang mga medical staff nito.
“We denounce the irresponsible and reckless action of the senator. He added to the burden of a hospital trying to respond in its most competent and aggressive manner to cope with the daunting challenges of this covid-19 outbreak. More than anyone else, Mr. Pimentel, should have realized the ardent desire of every well-meaning Filipino and every dedicated healthcare institution to contain the spread of the infection. His admonition for everyone to observe social distancing, enhance community quarantine measures, washing of hands and personal hygiene are nothing but empty rhetoric because he himself violated all those,” pahayag ng MMC.
