Pinatitignan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte ang mga diumano’y overpriced na medical equipments at supplies na binili ng gobyerno para panlaban sa covid-19.
Base sa naging pahayag ng tagapagsalita ng Pangulo na si Spokesperson Harry Roque, hindi nagustuhan ng Pangulo ang laki ng diprensiya sa presyo ng mga gamit na binili ng Department of Health (DOH) kumpara sa mga binili ng mga private sector.

“Bibigyan ko po ng kumpirmasyon na nababahala ang Presidente lalung-lalo doon sa pagkakaiba ng presyo ng testing kit, na kapag pribadong sektor ang bumili is P1,750,000 pero kapag gobyerno ang bumili ay P4 million. So nais po niya ng kasagutan and investigation… Kasi hindi po nga niya maintindihan, gaya ng buong sambayanan, kung bakit ganoon kalaki ang discrepancy,” sabi ni Spox Roque.
Matatandaang kinuwestiyon din ni Senador Panfilo “Ping” Lacson ang pagbili ng DOH ng P4 milyong halaga ng nucleic acid extractor. May nabibili daw kasing P1 milyon sa ilang pribadong kumpanya.
“There’s a pattern of overpricing. Not this time, we are in the middle of a crisis. We should not be distracting DOH and other government instrumentalities by conducting an investigation… But I think there should be a day of reckoning on all this… Seizing an opportunity out of a crisis is a good thing when you do it for country. For example when we know other locators or factories are relocating from China to other places in Asia, yan ang i-seize nating opportunity… At the end of the day, we see a pattern of overpricing. If it’s only one item then probably it’s been overlooked or they can reason out a different supplier or manufacturer. But it’s a pattern,” ani Sen. Lacson.
