Para kay Philippine Coast Guard Lt. Commander Erwin Tolentino, wala daw ibang poltiko ang pwedeng magdikta sa mga gawain nila kundi ang Presidente ng bansa. Paliwanag ni Lt. Commander Tolentino, isang lang daw ang kanilang command line.
“No politician can dictate our tasking. And we have only one commander-in-chief, ‘yung Presidente. Ganun lang kalinaw ang command line namin… Ka-kainsulto lang sa amin to. Just letting it out there… So please don’t do disservice sa mga rescuers natin on the ground and say na mabagal ang responde ng tropa. Been there, done that. Cold, wet, hungry and miserable yet they are still there. Di natin alintana yung hirap, pagod at peligro na kinakaharap nila while we stay at home and monitor everything in Facebook… We chase storms, bago pa dumating ang bagyo naka pre-position na kami sa mga areas na dadaanan ng bagyo,” paliwanag ni Lt. Commander Tolentino.
Magugunita na nitong nakaraang mga araw ay binanatan ni Pangulong Rodrigo Roa Duterte si Vice President Leni Robredo dahil sa ginagawa umano nitong pagbibida sa kasagsagan ng kalamidad.
“Yung pakana niya na wala ako noong bagyo, I was here. I was attending an Asean summit… You do not give orders on the day of the battle. You go and tell your soldiers and to take their position so that when the enemies come they should be able to respond appropriately. That is the analogy. Hindi ka magbigay ng order, where is… when the storm is raging, wala ka nang order maibigay. Sometimes the lines are cut. Ano pa bang ibigay mo na order diyan? It’s too late… While you were making calls, alam mo yung mga military hindi naman maniwala sa iyo, because tama sila you are not in the line of authority,” buwelta ni Pangulong Duterte.
Matatandaang sinabi ni Robredo na nakikipag-coordinate ang kaniyang opisina sa mga militar para sa rescue effort sa mga apektado ng kalamidad.
“Our prayers for Cagayan and Isabela. Reading posts now of people asking to be rescued. We deployed our security team to coordinate with AFP all the calls for rescue we are reading now… Pahupain lang nila ng konti para makalagpas mga truck nila with rubber boats. ‘Yung Air Force nag-deploy na din po rescue units sa Ilagan City na binabaha na din daw po,” boladas ni Robredo.
