Naghasik na naman ng kabalastugan ang mga rebeldeng komunistang New People’s Army (NPA). 2 Heavy equipment na ginagamit sa konstruksyon ng farm-to-market road(FMR) project ang sinunog ng mga ito.
Ayon sa ulat ng Manila Bulletin, nagkakahalaga daw ng P5.9 milion ang mga nasunog na kagamitan. Pag-aari ng kumpanyang CV Construction ang dump truck at backhoe.
Base sa pahayag ni PRO-13 director Police Brig. Gen. Romeo M. Caramat Jr, nangyari daw ang panununog noong Miyerkules ng umaga. sa Barangay Binocaran, Malimono.
“At least seven armed men poured gasoline and torched the dump truck and the backhoe… The construction of the FMR project in Binocaran is temporarily stalled because of the attack. The NPA showed anew its true color of being a terrorist group and anti-peace and development. They deserve our shared condemnation,” sabi ni Caramat.
Paliwanag pa ng kapulisan, malaking bagay ang FMR sa mga magsasaka at mangingisda.
“Most of the common folks in the area will directly benefit from that FMR project considering that their primary source of living is farming and fishing. They thrive by selling agricultural and fisheries products from the barangays to the markets and the consumers,” dagdag pa ni Caramat.
Hindi daw pumayag magbayad ng revolutionary tax ang construction company. Kaya isa ito sa tinitignan nilang motibo.
Nangangalap na ng ebidensiya ang mga otoridad upang masampahan ng kaso ang mga maysala.
