Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Assistant Secretary Celine Pialago has pummeled what she depicted as Kabataan Party-List Rep. Sarah Jane Elago’s endeavors at “harm control” following the passing of Keith Absalon in the possession of the New People’s Army (NPA).
Pialago, who fills in as the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC) representative on open issues and youth concerns, even moved the young legislator to advise individuals from the NPA “to set out their arms and take the way of harmony”.
The NPA is the tactical wing of the Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), which the Philippine government considers as psychological militants.
“In PR (advertising) it’s simply a distraction, harm control. Masabi lang na may ginagawa. Alam naman namin ang kanilang talagang intensiyon (They simply need to create the impression that they’re accomplishing something. Yet, we understand what their actual goals are),” Pialago said in a meeting over DZAR radio Thursday, June 10.
The NTF-ELCAC official was responding to Elago’s requires the resumption of harmony talks between the Philippine government and CPP following the demise of 21-year-old football player Keith Absalon and his cousin, Nolven. The two were killed by a people killing mine (APM) of the NPA in Masbate last Sunday.
