After giving a sermon to Lingayen Archbishop Soc Villegas for his Good Friday message warning the public to be wary of politicians who is campaigning based on UNITY, Atty. Bruce has turned his attention to Kaloocan Bishop David’s Good Friday message.

So what was Bishop’s David’s Good Friday message?

According to the good Bishop, perhaps Red is the color of Good Friday as a reminder to us that Jesus died because of red-tagging.

In a FB post, Atty. Bruce called Kalookan Bishop David’s assertion erroneous because Jesus did not die of red-tagging. Instead, he died because Herod passed to the Jews the power to pass judgment on Jesus. And finally to Pontius Pilate whom he said was another spineless fellow, cannot make stand on his own.

In other words, it was not the court, not the Roman empire who decided Jesus fate but the Jews who were angry at Jesus because of the Pharisees’ doing.

Atty. Bruce conceded that rebellion was already existent in those days but Jesus was accused of something, not rebellion but because the Pharisees saw him as a threat. Rather, Atty. Bruce blamed the system for allowing hearsay at that time to triumph over the law.

Atty. Bruce reminded Bishop David that one of the worst sins in the 10 commandments and that is to bear false witness.

Atty. Bruce continued that red-tagging is not a sin unlike who you tagged a person as a thief even he was sued in court but the court did not find him guilty of the crime. Red-tagging, Atty. Bruce said, is one way of accusing but should be proven and the court is your avenue to seek justice if you are victim of red-tagging.

Atty. Bruce wrapped up his sermon to Bishop David that those accused of red-tagging must prove that the government indeed harassed them so we can conclude they need justice. Likewise, he reminded the Bishop that one of the government’s duty is to eliminate the NPAs whom he called the termites in our society.

MALI ULIT FATHER

At ang mas malupit na kasalanan ay ang nasa Sampung Utos;

Thou Shall Not Bear False Witness.
