Kamakailan ay naging laman ng balita ang pagkontra ng aktor na si Dingdong Dantes laban sa Anti-Terrorism bill na ngayon ay ganap ng batas. Ayon sa aktor, ito raw ay nagdudulot ng takot sa mga tao.
Sinabi ito ng aktor kahit na suportado ng Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) ay nasabing batas. Si Dantes ay isang reservist ng Philippine Navy.
“Sadly, the Anti-Terrorism Bill is also causing fear—fear from abuse of power because of uncertainties and lack of dialogue. It is unfortunate that instead of uniting the people during these difficult times, the bill is dividing us. We must remember that the bill must yield the greatest net benefit to the people… I am a reservist. Isang karangalan at tungkulin ang tumulong sa pangangalaga ng kaayusan at kapayapaan ng bansa. I am also a family man. Sa abot ng aking kakayahan ay sinisiguro kong ligtas, malusog at masaya ang aking pamilya… But I am an artist too. Hindi lang ito trabaho para sa akin. Isang responsibilidad ang magbahagi ng mga kwentong repleksyon ng ating realidad—masaya man o malungkot,”
patutsada ni Dantes.
Hindi tuloy napigilan ng isang reservist na magsalita laban kay Dantes. Ayon kay John Paolo Nartatez, mababaw daw kung mag-isip si Dantes.

I, John Paolo N. Nartatez, am also a reservist. But unlike you, I didn’t just obtain my rank without going through the process. I was an ROTC officer during college, finished both basic & advanced military science and underwent summer training in Camp Riego de Dios. As part of the AFP Reserve Corps, I’m so displeased with your recent pronouncements against the Anti-Terrorism Law. You made an oath to our flag that you will protect our motherland and its people from threats to our sovereignity. I hope you can be man enough to walk your talk and not let yourself be influenced by any political color.
Thousands of soldiers have perished in exchange of the peaceful environment that you and your family have right now. Tribal leaders and lumads have been mercilessly murdered, their properties destroyed and basic rights taken away by anti-government forces. Both foreign and local investors refused to establish businesses in areas known to have presence of terrorists. If you still can’t see the bigger picture, you are dragging the entire Armed Forces with your shallow thinking. You are utterly neglecting your duty to the State by adapting the same thinking as the rebels.
