In reaction to online comments accusing Kapamilya talents of supporting the candidacy of Leni Robredo because they believe she is their only hope ABS-CBN is getting back their franchise or getting a new franchise after President Duterte steps down, Vice Ganda vehemently rebuffed this.
In a video uploaded on Tiktok, Vice Ganda made a categorical statement denying that Kapamilya talents like him are supporting the presidential bid of Robredo due to vested interest, particularly the return of ABS-CBN franchise. Vice Ganda explained that such insinuation is false because in the first place, the ABS-CBN franchise is already owned by another company and that franchise will stay with the new owner for years even decades.
Vice added that ABS-CBN did not apply for a new franchise or not interested to apply for a new one so all these talks that the Kapamilya talents are supporting Robredo because they are after their old franchise or a new franchise is BS.

Is Vice Ganda telling the truth?
Well, according to Atty. Trixie of the Luminous in a Facebook post that Vice Ganda is dishonest, perhaps ill-informed that the Kapamilya network did not apply for a new franchise. Yes, Vice Ganda is correct that ABS-CBN cannot expect to get their old frequency because it belongs now to a new owner but they can still apply for another franchise and another frequency.

Sabi ninyo di na mag-apply ng prankisa ang ABS CBN? Eto po, filed in January 2021 by Ate Vi herself.
Also, check nyo yung terms. Nakalagay dun na although they will not get their old frequency back dahil naibigay na sa Advanced Media Broadcasting, pwede pa rin sila sa ibang frequency.
